Organising FH Europe Foundation’s 2025 Annual Network Meeting in Zagreb

For the fourth consecutive year, we had the privilege of organising and executing the FH Europe Foundation’s Annual Network Meeting—one of the most important gatherings for the global inherited lipid disorder community. In November 2025, Zagreb, Croatia hosted this landmark edition at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, welcoming over 100 participants from 27 countries for three days of collaboration, alignment, and forward planning.

This year´s event marked a clear transition point for the FH Europe Foundation (FHEF) network—from strengthening connections to mobilising that community toward measurable impact. With growing momentum around the forthcoming European Cardiovascular Health Plan and renewed focus on rare diseases policy frameworks, the timing of the meeting was both strategic and deliberate.

Driving Collaboration and Regional Impact

The 2025 meeting brought together a diverse international audience of patient leaders, individuals living with inherited lipid disorders, clinicians, researchers, policymakers, regulators, and industry representatives. With 85 participants onsite and 17 joining online, the hybrid format enabled strong engagement across Europe and globally.

All four inherited lipid disorders central to FHEF’s mission—HeFH, HoFH, elevated Lp(a), and FCS—were represented, ensuring discussions balanced shared priorities such as prevention and access with disease-specific realities. The programme focused on practical implementation, with interactive sessions designed to strengthen alignment, exchange expertise, and build confidence across the network.

Hosting the meeting in Zagreb was both symbolic and strategic. Croatia has demonstrated what is possible when political leadership, clinical expertise, and patient advocacy align—particularly in early detection and public awareness. By convening the network in this region, the Foundation reinforced the importance of equity, regional collaboration, and cross-border learning, reflecting a broader ambition to move from discussion to structured, accountable action.

Partnering Locally: Engaging the Croatian Community

The event concluded with Run 4 FH Europe, a 5km run held on Sunday at 14:00, circling the Hilton Garden Inn Zagreb venue, where participants and supporters from both the international network and the local community came together to raise visibility for familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) and related conditions—bringing the message beyond the conference setting and into the public space.

Exceptional Feedback on Event Delivery

Participant feedback confirmed the success of the meeting, reflected in an overall satisfaction score of 9.4/10. In addition, the organisational aspects received outstanding ratings: onsite support from the MA Marketing team scored 9.74, the event venue 9.74, and overall event organisation 9.66. These results underline not only the strength of the programme, but also the quality, reliability, and professionalism behind its delivery.
